The "OMG / FOMA Preview 2020" is available. The annual expert forecast was first conducted by the Organisation of Media Agencies (OMG) in cooperation with the BVDW specialist group Online Media Agencies (FOMA).

„OMG / FOMA Preview 2020“

According to the study, the trend should remain stable: The German advertising market continues to grow. However, the current forecast of plus 0.7 percent is somewhat more cautious than in previous years. The majority of this growth will be in the online media, above all the major digital platforms.

  • Google, Facebook and Amazon are expected to increase their sales in the three-digit million range even in 2020.
  • However, according to the survey, the rest of the online industry can also look forward to a good business year. According to the agency experts' forecast, advertising revenues here could rise by 5 percent.
  • Out-of-home, radio and cinema are also considered to be the winners.

Retail Media takes up speed

The relatively young advertising discipline of retail media is also arousing great hopes. Here the study estimates that sales for 2020 will already exceed one billion euros, with the majority going to Amazon. But German providers such as Otto Group Media are also increasingly establishing themselves on the market.
