Certified PDF

Certified PDF technology is designed to ensure the technical accuracy of PDF print documents and is based on the PitStop and Instant PDF programs from Enfocus.

Certified PDF is also referred to in connection with the term PDF/X Plus and means that the requirements of PDF/X and additional criteria must be fulfilled for documents to be processed without errors. The procedure is used in the context of a so-called data check (preflight).

Procedure

Prepress service providers provide the data creator with profiles that are generated with PitStop. These profiles contain criteria and instructions for PDF creation, review and correction. With the Instant PDF program, the data creator creates the PDF file based on such a profile. The result is a Certified PDF (= certified PDF), which is handed over to the print service provider. The service provider can check the status of the PDF file with a free program.
