= Raster Image Processor. Output devices such as printers, proofing devices, platesetters or digital printing machines are preceded by a computer that converts the print documents, e.g. PostScript or PDF files, into a bitmap.
Application
This bitmap is the pixel pattern that the output devices use to generate the print image on the substrate or printing plate.
