DTD
= Document Type Definition. The elements and attributes allowed for a XML document are defined within a DTD. These are defined by the DTD, which is also the basis for interpretation and processing for each XML document.
The DTD is available in a file in text format (.dtd). As with a DTD, an XML schema can also be used.
